One area of the dental profession that is often overlooked or de-emphasized is the area of community service. This means many things to different people but it is part of our professional obligation as an element of our ethical contract with society as a “learned” profession. Each professional should interact and participate in organized dentistry to help address the ongoing ethical obligations and service to society. This section of the “Toolkit” with be an ongoing attempt to explore and provide contacts in order to help interact with our peers, understand our obligations and seek ways to provide this community service in the area of oral health care.
